I disagree.

For example, let’s say you want to join the MIT. Why the MIT? because they are the best one. Are they? The requirements to join the MIT are high, so your study hard and finally, you achieve to enter to the MIT.

Inside MIT, they teach you how to think.

Well, BS!.

For started, We learn to think (including analytically) in the imprinting, it is around at the age of 5y-10y and nothing more. In this age, to learn we could learn a language or two (or 5), in a snap but also learn the basic of analytic thinking.

Merit of the MIT = 0

Merit of a good (and present) parenthood= 1 (and they do it for free).

And they know that. It is the reason why it does an exam, they cherry pick the best one, so they could convert the best one -> the best one. Now, that’s laziness.

In my case, I started programming at the age of 8 years (it’s not a big feat, some people started at 5–7 years). I enjoy programming.

So I joined the university and I found that the university over-flow me with complex questions about equations, derivatives and such. I’m still having nightmares about it.

At 2 or 3rd year, they finally started me teaching me some useful (my career was around 6 years, it’s the equivalent of a bachelor+master) and for my dismay, I learned that I was way better than most of my teachers (including in the experience). I couldn’t say that I don’t learn a thing but I learned things that I could have learned in a month, not in years.

Also, the university is also focused on self-learning.

DAFUQ! So we paid a premium and finally, we must read a book, StackOverflow, Udemy and such. Give me a break!.

Finally, is the thesis. The thesis is a mix between science, thinks that the university never taught you and zero your creativity.

Your best year is around here, waiting to be rejected.

So, I write a tedious article about CORBA, I put some charts, I think it was 50–100 pages and nothing more. I think I repeated some pages a lot of times (because as a good engineer, optimization is a must, cheating is following). I picked a tedious topic because I know that the teacher never read them unless it is interesting. If it is interesting, then they will steal you the idea or debunk with “you must cite your sources!” (if you are a pioneer, then there is no source at all! good riddance!). My brother had a good time presenting the thesis (3 times). I don’t care, I just want the degree. So, I presented this tedious thesis and gotcha, approved and granted in the first round!.
